Spiked Apple Cider
The weather outside seems to be steadily dropping, so we thought it was a perfect time to share one of our favorite fall drinks with you. We love a good warm cup of apple cider during this time of year, especially when it has a touch of rum. So be sure to give this recipe a try, it’s super simple and delicious, and if you do end up making it, be sure to photograph your drink and tag us in your photo on Instagram!
What you will need:
2 quarts of apple cider
1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
2 cups of dark rum
(Optional) Mulling Spice:
2 tablespoons of whole allspice
2 tablespoons whole cloves
1 cinnamon sticks (broken into pieces, you can use a rolling pin for this)
Directions:
In a large pot, add the apple cider, cinnamon and the mulling spice ingredients (optional). Bring it to a boil over high, then reduce it down to a simmer and allow it to cook for about 6 minutes. Then, remove the pot and strain through a fine strainer. Finally, stir in the rum. Be sure to serve this hot and if you want even more flavor, you can always mix more mulling spice by adding it to a tea strainer and placing it within your cup of spiked apple cider, let it sit for a minute and enjoy!
